bps software

Built business card

bps software sees itself as the digital foreman of the construction industry and is already thinking today about what construction companies will need tomorrow. The company’s developments range from automated construction diaries to commercial and all-in-one software solutions. The company has been growing steadily since it was founded in 1997. In 2014, the company headquarters in Ibbenbüren received its first extension, followed by new building number two in 2023. The client wanted a building with an independent appearance that reflected the company’s focus on technology. The passive The two-storey office building, which was built to the standard of a new building, offers 385 square meters of space for 29 employees. Münster-based Raumfabrik was responsible for planning, construction and project management. We equipped the building with our multi-floor system, which ensures a perfect working environment in the new building.

Corporate Architecture
The first extension, completed in 2014, already makes the successful development of bps software architecturally visible with its modern, sustainable timber frame construction in passive house standard and technical equipment. This was also the requirement for the new building project. bps software commissioned Raumfabrik from Münster with the design, planning and execution. “The collaboration with Raumfabrik on the complex conversion of my private home impressed me, so we also chose the company for our new office building,” explains bps Managing Director Carsten Brockmann. “Raumfabrik coordinates and manages projects from initial planning to construction management and aftercare from a single source. This makes life much easier for the client.” The building application and implementation planning was in the hands of Fourmove, Münster, a long-standing architectural partner of Raumfabrik.

The result is a two-storey office building with a total of 385 square meters of space for 29 employees. The dominant architectural element of the building is the unusually designed façade. The basic idea: vertical wall panels are divided by horizontal ceiling panels, resulting in an appealing stacking and a certain dynamism. This impression is supported by the differently wide, large window openings and aluminum light grids based on the golden section. The choice of material refers to the affinity with technology, while the color scheme – some of them are powder-coated in the corporate color orange or left in their raw state in grey – picks up on the company’s corporate identity. The KNX-controlled LED light strips turn the building into an illuminated statement in the dark.

Optimal workflow
The inner courtyard between the existing buildings (buildings 1 and 2) has been enhanced by the positioning of the new building – a pleasant space for relaxing work breaks. While buildings 1 and 2 are connected to each other on the first floor, the new building is connected to building 1 via a bridge, so that short distances within the buildings ensure an optimal workflow.

The office space in the new building is divided by a glass wall partition system that creates airy transparency and ensures brightness. In addition to separate offices and a meeting room, there are open space areas that are both a place to work and a place to relax – ideal for informal meetings or creative brainstorming sessions. “It was important to us to create a pleasant working atmosphere in which our employees feel comfortable and enjoy working,” explains Brockmann. “An attractive workplace is also an important factor in attracting new employees.”

The interior design, including the permanent fixtures such as the kitchenette, benches, pedestals, acoustic solutions and lighting, as well as the furnishings, were provided by Münster-based office specialist projekt k, which was involved in the planning at an early stage by Raumfabrik. “Interior design and furnishings have a major influence on the technical building equipment. That’s why it’s important to think through and plan not only the work processes in advance, but also the furnishing details,” explains Thorsten Bertels, the responsible project manager at Raumfabrik.

Strong colors
The two companies also developed the color concept together. The aim was to create a uniform design line that runs through all three buildings. Wooden panels, green furniture as eye-catchers, plants as room dividers and an oak-look vinyl floor bring natural tones into the interior, which form an attractive contrast to the glass partition wall system with thin, anthracite-colored profiles. In the common areas, wooden wall panels create a pleasant atmosphere and improve the acoustics at the same time. Details such as mood boards in the corporate color orange set strong accents. In this way, the rooms offer a calming but fresh working environment in which concentrated work is possible.

Sustainability through innovative technology
The intelligent and sustainable building technology is just as innovative as the software solutions from bps. Geothermal energy is used in conjunction with a brine-to-water heat pump to heat and cool the building, which was constructed to passive house standards. The “climate floor” developed by us conducts the heating and cooling energy as well as fresh air into the offices. Our multi-floor is ideal for heating and cooling buildings with low-temperature systems, as it uses the screed mass as an additional heat exchanger. The combination of conventional underfloor heating and airflow makes this solution as responsive as it is energy-efficient. In addition, the sophisticated ventilation technology ensures a constantly optimal room climate, which prevents the unpleasant side effects of classic air conditioning systems such as draughts or “cold lakes” on the floor. Another plus point: thanks to the integrated level for underfloor cabling, the entire TGA can be “banished” to the floor. “We are delighted that we opted for this innovative solution. The multi-floor ensures a pleasant room climate all year round, in which the employees feel comfortable and are correspondingly efficient,” says a satisfied bps Managing Director Brockmann.

Rewarded courage
Despite the difficult conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the cost and time budget were adhered to. “Our ‘all services from a single source’ concept involving tried-and-tested project partners has once again proven its worth and we were able to demonstrate our expertise in a complex commercial project,” says project manager Bertels happily. The 100-strong bps team is continuing its successful course in its newly “built business card”. Company boss Brockmann is confident about the future: “Our courage to invest and focus on growth despite the difficult circumstances and uncertainties has been rewarded.”
