\nHaving made a real stroke of luck with their plot, they now enjoy the spaciousness of their home every day and the view, which is something you don’t get every day near the city <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
<\/b><\/span>Enrico Gr\u00f6ger grew up in the countryside: “We had a large garden around the house there, which is why I couldn’t imagine anything other than living in my own home one day.”
\nHis wife Denise is of the same opinion: “Although I grew up in the city myself, I often visited my grandmother in the countryside as a child. I liked it there so much that it was always clear to me that we would move out of the city and into the countryside when we had children.”
\nNevertheless, it was more of a coincidence that the family became aware of their future home in 2006.
\nEnrico Gr\u00f6ger actually only went there out of curiosity: “A waterfront property in Neuenhagen seemed so unlikely to me that I initially thought the ad was a bad joke.”
\nWhich turned out to be a mistake: it was actually 12 acres, with a flooded clay quarry – in an existing building area and fully developed.
\nNot an opportunity to hesitate for long, especially as building land in the Berlin suburbs was still cheap at the time.
\nNow the search for a construction company remained.
\nHere, the family relied on the recommendation of friends and contacted Roth-Massivhaus – a company with offices in Berlin and Hamburg.
\nAs the family felt they were in good hands here, they spontaneously decided to build with Roth. <\/span><\/p>\n
<\/b><\/span>In 2009, she started planning with the company architect.
\n“Roth does have a catalog with sample houses, but it’s more of a suggestion and starting point for your own ideas,” recalls Enrico Gr\u00f6ger today: “Planning is usually done individually, and that was the case for us too. Back then, we took a newly designed house as a starting point, which only had the basic style in common with our current home.”
\nThe couple placed particular emphasis on large windows facing the lake during the planning stage: “A view that we enjoy every day today.”
\nThe kitchen is also fitted with glass doors that lead directly onto the terrace.
\nBoth spouses wanted it to be separate from the living areas: “This way, we can relax and eat with guests, and there are no food smells in the living area, which is hard to avoid with open transitions.” <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\nEnrico Gr\u00f6ger discovered the semi-curved staircase in an American country house catalog and fell in love with it straight away: “And since we both like it open and spacious, we decided to integrate the staircase into our living spaces as an eye-catcher.”
\nThe dining area is directly adjacent to the entrance area, while the living area has been lowered by around 25 cm to create a cozy retreat zone despite the openness. <\/span><\/p>\n
\nA geothermal heat pump was used to generate heat.
\nThe particular advantage of this constellation is the possibility of producing cooled water through the probes in the ground.
\nA controlled living space ventilation system with heat recovery was also used.
\nThe ClimaLevel Multiboden was the perfect climate control system: an optimum combination of underfloor heating, ventilation and comfort cooling. <\/span><\/p>\n
